Saints return to Premier League 2 action on Sunday, nine days after their last outing at Aston Villa last Friday.

Despite going behind inside two minutes, goals from Kazeem Olaigbe and Lewis Payne flipped the game on its head at Bodymoor Heath training ground.

Dave Horseman’s side looked to be on course for three points, but for Brad Young’s equaliser on 75 minutes.

The Royals claimed three points on their last outing, goals from Mamadi Camará and Rashawn Scott securing a 2-1 win over Burnley.

A win for Saints would see them rise to as high as third if other results go their way, whilst Reading could leapfrog Sunderland into 12th.

LAST MEETING

The two sides last met back in October, where 382 fans were in attendance at Reading’s Madjeski Stadium.

A youthful Saints side featuring the likes of Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo, Matt Carson and the eventual match winner Dom Ballard took the game to their hosts.

The game’s solitary goal came on 55 minutes, a superb solo effort from Ballard enough to secure a vital three points for Horseman’s side.

MANAGER’S NOTES

“We’ve played every day of the week this year and every kick-off time you possibly can,” said Horseman. “This is the last one which is a bit unusual!”

“Reading have picked up a bit lately, they’ve got a few players back with their first team which has dropped a few back. They had a go at Wolves and lost but then got a draw in the week.

“This’ll be a tough game. They’re really individually talented, skilful. It’s another good test but like I say we’re in good form.

“From our point of view we should have won the last four, but we’ve won two. We want to push those standards and if we’re ruthless at one end, the right end, then we’ll give anyone in this league a good game.”
