Having suffered only a second home league defeat of the season on Thursday night, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is looking for an immediate response from his players when Watford visit on Sunday.

Surrendering a lead to Newcastle last time out, the Saints boss is calling on his side to put things right against Roy Hodgson’s side.

“I don't know what we have to expect,” he said. “I haven't looked at them so far. What I expect is that if we face the same thing again, that we find better solutions or better moments and then maybe be more clinical and score the goals we didn't score today [Thursday].

“Games that are now coming up are decisive for us. And we have a home game again and we don't want to lose again because we want to show that we can do it better. And that's the only target we have. What players we will do it with we will see.”

With Watford heading to the south coast after a midweek defeat themselves, Hasenhüttl has highlighted the importance of putting right the wrongs of their last outing.

“Then two teams are meeting each other who haven't been the most successful during the week, so it will be important who makes it better, analyses better and finds better answers for the weekend. Hopefully we are.”
