Young striker Luke Pearce has been nominated for Premier League 2's Player of the Month award for February, after a string of impressive performances.

The Republic of Ireland youth international broke into the B team set-up at the start of the new year, continuing his consistent goalscoring run at Under-23s level.

February saw the 17-year-old striker score at every opportunity in Premier League 2, with four goals and two assists from three outings in the competition.

Last-time-out his two second-half goals helped seal an impressive 4-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at St Mary's.

Joining Pearce on the shortlist is Luke Harris (Fulham), Sonny Hilton (Fulham), Juan Larios (Manchester City), James McAtee (Manchester City), Jesurun Rak-Sakyi (Crystal Palace) and Shola Shoretire (Manchester United).

The winner will be decided by the Premier League Football Development Panel, who based their selections on who PL2 club coaches picked out as the best display by an opponent in each of their league matches.
