Southampton Football Club and its fans are showing their support for Ukraine ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture away at Aston Villa.

The club has teamed up with Main Club Partner Sportsbet.io, who have an office in Kyiv, to provide free scarves for the 3,000 travelling fans as a sign of solidarity with Ukraine.

Supporters travelling to the game will find the scarves on their seats ahead of kick-off – the scarves will be in Southampton’s away colours of yellow and blue to represent the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

Southampton Football Club’s Chief Commercial Officer, David Thomas, said: “As a club, we felt it was important to recognise the shocking events of the past few weeks and use our platform to show our support for the people of Ukraine.

“We are proud to stand alongside our supporters and partners to promote a message of peace in these difficult times.”

Joe McCallum, Director of Sportsbet.io, said: “In these difficult times it is important we all stick together and support each other. This is aligned with the shared values aspect of our partnership with Southampton.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Ukraine and the courageous people showing breathtaking bravery in the face of adversity.”

The club would like to thank Aston Villa for their support in allowing the scarves to be distributed to fans ahead of the game.
