Southampton duo James Ward-Prowse and Kyle Walker-Peters have both had goals shortlisted for January’s Premier League Goal of the Month.

The captain hit a jaw-dropping free-kick into the top right corner of the net from 34 yards against Wolves, with the dead ball specialist now only behind David Beckham for all-time direct free-kick goals in the Premier League.

Kyle Walker-Peters scored his first ever Premier League goal in the 1-1 draw with reigning champions Manchester City last time out at St Mary’s.

Driving forward with the ball, the full-back played a clever one-two with Nathan Redmond before curling a sensational strike into the back of the net with the outside of his right boot from 10 yards.

The Saints duo will be up against Manuel Lanzini (West Ham), Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton), Mateo Kovačić, Hakim Ziyech (both Chelsea), Richarlison (Everton) and Joshua Sargent (Norwich).
