It's the third time trying for this particular Premier League Cup fixture, after the first meeting was postponed due to fog and the second due to the pandemic.

Saints have had a mixed bag of results as far as the Cup is concerned, losing 6-0 to West Brom on the opening day before drawing 1-1 at Division One side Arsenal.

Last-time-out in the competition Saints travelled to the Baggies, goals from Ramello Mitchell and Kazeem Olaigbe cancelled out by a last-minute equaliser for the hosts.

LAST MEETING

Bournemouth emerged victorious in both meetings when these sides met in the 2019/20 Premier League Cup.

Goals from Kornelius Hansen and Pascal Kpohomouh meant Saints had a 2-1 lead as the game entered the closing stages at Vitality Stadium.

Jordan Ibe and Sam Surridge struck late for the hosts to secure an impressive victory and all three points.

MANAGER'S NOTES

"I think we'll look a little bit different," said Dave Horseman. "We have a couple of trialists in so if they do well we'll get them in the game.

"We've got quite a few knocks and we could probably give them a good week in the gym, hitting them hard.

"Bournemouth are quite varied in their approach, sometimes they'll come with Jordan Ibe and players like that.

"It'll be a tough game but one we'll use to give some minutes."
