Daisy's Journey with Saints Works

Daisy wasn't sure if she felt confident that she could achieve what she wanted to, and didn’t know if she had the right experience or skills to find work.

With her self-esteem and emotional wellbeing low, Daisy found our employability programme Saints Works at a critical time in her life. Like many people her age, she fell out of school lacking a direction and without the skills she needed to find a way into employment, training or further education.

Enter Saints Works. Daisy was recommended into the programme through the Department of Work and Pensions' Kickstart Scheme and engaged with 12 weeks of workshops, employer visits, mock interviews, workplace tours and more – a huge array of activities to bolster confidence and open the door to the world of work.

After taking part in the programme, Daisy now agrees that she’s confident that she can achieve what she wants to, and that she has the right skills and experience to find work.

"It's been good," she said, "It's helped motivate me to get what I need to get done, and learn what I need to learn to write my own future and make sure I can do the best I can."

Post-programme evaluation surveys found that Daisy's self-esteem and emotional wellbeing scores had increased significantly. She also really enjoyed Saints Works' weekly sports activity sessions, recognising that since get involved that she was more physically active and that helped her feel better about herself.

Best of all, Daisy has finished Saints Works having successfully gained employment through the Kickstart Scheme. She's starting a new job in the sports and leisure industry in 2022.
