Mali kicked off their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations campaign in perfect style as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Tunisia on Wednesday.

Southampton's Moussa Djenepo played a pivotal role in Mali's victory.

Shortly after the break, Mali were awarded a penalty as Ellyes Skhiri got a hand to the ball inside the area, with Ibrahima Koné converting from the spot.

Despite being carded in the 33rd minute, Djenepo played the full 90 minutes for his country in their opening match of the competition.

Djenepo did however concede a penalty in the 74th minute, but a fantastic save from Ibrahim Mounkoro ensured the win as they currently sit top of Group F.

Mali's next match is on Sunday 16th January at 1pm GMT where they face Gambia.
