THE MATCH

West Brom vs Saints B
Premier League Cup
New Bucks Head
Thursday 13th January, 7pm GMT

Thursday sees the third meeting between these two sides this season, with this the first of two scheduled trips for Saints B to New Bucks Head in 2022.

Neither side has yet to re-start their campaigns in the new calendar year, the Baggies last in action on December 20th in Premier League 2.

Despite goals from Modou Faal and Jamie Andrews, hosts West Brom fell to a 4-2 defeat to runaway league leaders Fulham during their previous outing.

Saints played their final game of 2021 just three days prior, narrowly losing out to an experienced Norwich City side 4-3 away from home in the league.

LAST MEETING

It's been just 45 days since the two sides last met, with Saints exacting their revenge for an early season thrashing at the hands of the Baggies.

With the late-September 6-0 defeat undoubtedly fresh in their minds it was a thoroughly improved performance from Dave Horseman's side this time around, despite West Brom's Tom Fellows giving his side the lead after just 16 minutes.

Luke Pearce grabbed the equaliser for Saints on the stroke of half-time, before two second half goals from Kazeem Olaigbe sealed a deserved win at Snows Stadium.
