Generous audiences at Mayflower Theatre’s performances of Cinderella donated a total of £17,105 to Southampton FC’s charity.

Mayflower Theatre chose Saints Foundation as 2021’s pantomime charity partner, with the charity celebrating 20 years of transforming lives in Southampton.

Saints Foundation participant Elliot and his dad Stuart were honoured guests at Cinderella’s press night, enjoying the show thanks to the generosity of Mayflower Theatre. Elliot attends the charity’s open access football sessions for young people with disabilities or additional needs.

Jazz Bhatti, Saints Foundation Fundraising & Partnerships Manager, said: “This is an incredible total and speaks to the generosity of the audiences who came to see this brilliant show.

“We’re hugely grateful to everyone who donated and especially to Mayflower Theatre, who are always so supportive of our mission to transform lives in our city.

“Saints Foundation’s 20 year celebrations are not just about looking back at the past two decades, but also looking forward and making sure we continue to help the people who need support in our city. These donations are really important to ensuring we can continue our work during these challenging times.”

Michael Ockwell, Mayflower Theatre Chief Executive added, “We are thrilled that our audiences have been so generous with their donations to Saints Foundation. I would like to thank them and the Cinderella company who have supported this initiative and understood the importance of the work the Foundation do in our City.

“As a charity ourselves we are keenly aware of the important work we can do, alongside our partners in the sports sector, to help all members of our community.”
