Moi Elyounoussi was thankful to come through a dramatic FA Cup tie against Swansea City with a positive outcome, he explained after securing progression to the fourth round of the competition.

The victory was hard to come by, with Saints playing well over half of the tie with a man less, but that made the result all the more satisfying, Elyounoussi revealed.

Having scored himself in extra-time, to add to the five he has already bagged this term, the forward was pleased with his contribution but was certain there is more he can offer as the season unfolds.

"This game had everything, really," the Norwegian reflected. "A bit of drama at the end there. It was a tough game in the end. We had a good start and then we got the red card.

"Obviously the red card made it more difficult. But we showed character. We used almost the whole squad and yeah, it was a team effort. A team win.

"It gives us confidence. Straight after they scored the 2-1, we had to go for it, nothing to lose. We did it in the best possible way. Scored straight after they score. In the end it was a deserved win. The most important thing is that we are through.

"For me [this season], so far so good. Hopefully a bit more to come."
