Stuart Armstrong and Ché Adams have both returned to first team training ahead of Southampton's Boxing Day trip to West Ham in the Premier League.

Armstrong hasn't featured since the start of November due to an ongoing calf injury, whilst Adams has missed the last two outings having previously been on a run of three goals in five games.

Now rejoining training, the Scotland internationals could be a part of Ralph Hasenhüttl's plans for Sunday's trip to the capital as the Saints boss confirmed no other injury concerns.

"The Covid situation changes every day, so we will test today again but so far we are okay.

"The injury situation is also getting better. Stu [Armstrong] is back in sessions and Ché Adams is back in the session, and that’s so far the situation how it is.

" But it can change every day as I said."

Commenting on the potential effect of Covid-19 on his playing squad, Hasenhüttl added: "So far, no Covid cases.

"We try to stick to the rules, we try to do what’s helped us so far in staying safe and in the moment we don’t go indoors any more.

"Yesterday we dressed in the car and went home after the session, so not the perfect prep for the players definitely, but we try to minimise time around the training ground."
