With Southampton paying the price for missed opportunities in recent matches, manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has called on his side to be more clinical at Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Saints will head to the capital for the second time in five days, after falling to a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday in a game that saw the visitors miss a host of early chances before the Gunners eventually came out on top.

Now preparing to take on Patrick Viera’s side, Hasenhüttl is looking for chances to be turned into goals.

“We have had some good games with them, some good for us, some good for them. I think it is a very tight fixture and we have to go there with a belief in what we are doing to make it as difficult as possible for them to create something.

"From our side, it definitely helps when we create chances that we are more clinical, because it is definitely something we have missed in the past in away games.

"Yes, I think we have players that can score goals. We could definitely score more. This is something we have to work on.

"We showed that we can create a lot of chances. The finish is sometimes not good enough, not creative enough.

"This is a key quality, an individual quality, and we have to do better. This is something we have to develop.

"There may not be so much missing for taking points, when you look at the games, but we have to be better in every part of our game. That is the goal every day and it is what we are working on."
