Saints will be looking to carry over their league form into the competition this Sunday, as well as replicate their run to the fifth-round last season.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side saw off AFC Bournemouth, Plymouth Argyle, Yeovil United and Championship side Lewes FC on their way to a last sixteen tie with Super League outfit Birmingham City.

Swindon Town have had a mixed bag of results during the opening seven games of their Division One South West campaign.

But Sunday’s visitors will be in a positive mood when they arrive at Snows Stadium, after claiming their first three points of the season last weekend away at Maidenhead United.

LAST MEETING

Despite being in the same division last year, Saints and Swindon didn’t meet before the league was curtailed due to the pandemic.

The last meeting came back in September 2019, where Saints travelled to Swindon at the start of the 2019/20 season.

Goals from Caitlin Morris, Georgie Freeland and Shannon Albuery secured a comfortable 4-0 victory at Fairford Town.

They would only face each other the once that season due to another league curtailment.

MANAGER’S NOTES

“We played Swindon a couple of years back now and were quite a challenging team,” said Spacey-Cale. “They had some good players and were set up really well.

“We’re under no illusions that it’s the FA Cup, it’s a giantkiller story and the same messages go across. We have to play the team that’s in front of us.

“We certainly won’t underestimate Swindon and we’re pleased it’s a home game, we haven’t had a home game for a while.

IT'S THE FA CUP, IT'S A GIANTKILLER STORY and the same messages must go across.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale
on Swindon Town

“It should be a good challenge with everybody fighting for places for the game on Sunday and beyond.

“Historically on Women’s Football Weekend there’s been such good crowds, we’re always looking to push that a bit more.

“The supporters that watch us week-in-week-out are our ambassadors in the football world. They speak to other fans and get them in.

“For us to progress in the FA Cup on Women’s Football Weekend in front of a boisterous crowd, I’m sure the girls will reply with a good performance.”
