Donate your unwanted kit at St Mary's
Supporters can donate their unwanted sports kit and equipment at St Mary’s next week as part of the BBC’s Kit Out The Nation campaign.
Kit Out The Nation is a new BBC Make A Difference campaign, which aims to give unwanted but good condition equipment an extended life with young people who may otherwise find sport and exercise unaffordable.
BBC Radio Solent is driving the campaign in the south, with Saints Foundation welcoming donations from the Southampton area. There will be a designated drop-off point in the Itchen South concourse at St Mary’s, near the Saints Store, at the times below:
• Monday 20th September, 5pm–7pm
• Wednesday 22nd September, 5pm–7pm
BBC Kit Out The Nation is looking to collect everyday items of sports kit (clean, usable clothing) and regular games equipment that a young person can use in an activity, such as balls, bats and rackets.
Fans donating kit are asked not to bring large items of gym equipment, and that kit is bagged up prior to donation.
Recent data from Sport England showed 100,000 fewer children met the recommended level of activity in 2020 than in 2019, with access to sport and exercise limited due to the affordability of kit – a situation that has only been compounded by the pandemic.
