Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl was satisfied with the point gained against in-form West Ham United on Saturday afternoon, despite having the better share of the chances in search of a game-deciding goal.

The clean sheet was what pleased the manager most - a first this campaign - with solid performances from all of Saints' backline, as well as one particularly impressive save from Alex McCarthy to keep West Ham at bay.

Saints are now three games unbeaten, but are yet to claim a Premier League victory, something that the boss is keen to rectify in the coming weeks, with meetings scheduled against Man City and Wolves to close out September.

"Very satisfied with the performance, not so much with the result," Hasenhüttl reflected. "Because I think we had bigger chances today, to win this game.

"Today, we have been the closest [to beating West Ham]. We had big chances in the end, it was a big pity that we didn't win this game. But we've showed we can play a little bit different and be successful.

"The work we've done in the last two weeks to settle us, to bring us in the right shape for playing against them, yes they had more possession I think but this was the plan.

"Defend a little deeper and have chances on the counter-attack, we have been a threat today. This is what they don't like.

"It's a pity that we don't have a win at the moment, because this helps you massively when you have three points. But it's also important that we can take clean sheets and today was the first this season.

"So we take the positive out of it, and finally, with a little bit more luck I think we can also win against these teams."

On Armando Broja's home debut, he added: "Yes, this is what I expect of him. He was full of self-confidence after the international week away. He's scored and assist. His speed and his dynamic, he can definitely be a threat for the opponent and I was happy with his performance."
