New Southampton signing Lyanco believes manager Ralph Hasenhüttl's style of play will suit his own game well, as he begins to settle in following what he describes as a dream move to the club.

The 24-year-old centre-back completed a move from Torino on Wednesday, signing a four-year contract at St Mary's and becoming the fourth addition to the backline this summer, following the arrivals of Romain Perraud, Tino Livramento and Thierry Small.

Lyanco has already been getting to grips with Hasenhüttl's philosophy, and he is excited about how he will fit in.

"I saw his videos, and the way that he plays I like it," said the Brazilian, who also holds Serbian nationality. "He talked about the way that he wants to play and it's the football that I like to play.

"I want to help the team, I want to help my teammates. That's what I told him, that I want to play and I will do everything for my teammates."

Lyanco, who was undergoing medical tests over the weekend, even joked with Hasenhüttl that he was up for playing against Manchester United last Sunday.

With a laugh, he said: "When I arrived I put into Google Translate "I want to play on Sunday". I am here for the team and for my teammates.

"It's not about me as an individual, it's about the team. I hope we have a good season and then the personal achievements will follow."

Lyanco has this week begun adapting to his new surroundings, at Staplewood Campus, and he has been incredibly impressed by the set-up that has greeted him.

"Everything is really top, it's a top centre, it's a Premier League team," he said. "I have been around the training ground and my eyes were wide, I was very impressed.

"I haven't got words to express it properly, it feels like a dream. I was thinking back to when I was a kid and my dream then was to play in the Premier League and I am here now. It's beautiful."
