This Pride Month, primary school pupils have been learning to celebrate difference as part of our LGBTQ+ Awareness Workshops.

Our Premier League Primary Stars team have been going into local schools to deliver the workshop, which looks at how young people can learn to celebrate difference.

Pupils at Redbridge Primary School took part in the workshop earlier this month. They explored what LGBTQ+ means for individuals, how to avoid stereotyping members of the LGBTQ+ community, and how to challenge offensive behaviour in the school environment.

The young people then designed pledge shirts to show their commitment to challenging discrimination, whilst accepting and celebrating the difference around them.

Primary Stars is a curriculum-linked education programme funded by the Premier League to support primary-age pupils with their learning. In Southampton, it forms part of Saints Foundation’s mission to empower young people in the local community.

This activity is in support of Pride Month, which is celebrated in June every year. Saints Foundation and Southampton Football Club are committed to teaching tolerance, education in pride history and continuing to move forward in equality.

We recognise our duty to create a safe environment where everyone feels comfortable, valued and heard, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identification.
