Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns for Southampton heading into Tuesday night’s clash with Leeds United at St Mary’s, with Jan Bednarek and Oriol Romeu both returning to first-team training.

Romeu was forced to withdraw from action back in February with an ankle injury, in Tuesday night’s reverse fixture at Elland Road.

Jan Bednarek, who suffered a knock to the heel against Crystal Palace, has also returned to first-team training.

"Oriol has an opportunity to play," confirmed Hasenhüttl. "We must handle it carefully but I'd like to have him in the squad, even on the bench. We must have a look at how his body reacts after training today, then we can make a decision.

"Jan Bednarek has no problems anymore with his heel. He trained yesterday and is training today. He will be in the squad, yes.

“For Ori maybe it’s a little too early to come back into the team, but maybe on the bench."

When questioned about Danny Ings’ early withdrawal from action on Saturday against Fulham, the boss confirmed this was only precautionary.

“We must be careful after a long injury coming back is always difficult and we always have to pay attention because we don’t want to risk anything.”

Ryan Bertrand and Will Smallbone remain on the long-term injury list.
