Hasenhüttl: A deserved win

Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl felt his side were good value for their 3-1 Premier League win over Fulham at St Mary’s on Saturday.

Recording the same score line in midweek against Crystal Palace, Ché Adams’ close-range strike was the difference at the halfway stage.

A first senior goal for Nathan Tella extended the lead before Theo Walcott ensured back-to-back wins after the visitors had pulled one back.

Commenting on Saints’ latest three points, Hasenhüttl said: “It was absolutely a deserved win. The third goal made it calm and killed everything.

“It was an important win for us and a second 3-1 win at home. I think we could’ve scored more, especially in the first half we had a few more chances, but in the end it was a deserved win.

“I think we had a lot of chances created and this helps when you have players like Ingsy back, and now the strikers are more often in a position where they can score.

“Ché has a good run now and we have finally found in possession a shape where it’s comfortable and it’s tough to defend against us.

“We’ve worked very hard on this part of our game but it seems now that it gets better and better.”
