There were multiple successes around the globe for Southampton's representatives on international duty on Thursday evening, with three tasting victory.

Star man James Ward-Prowse was named in the England XI for their matchup with San Marino in World Cup Qualifying, which the home nation won at a canter. Saints' captain netted his first Three Lions goal in the 14th minute, the first of five on the night, latching onto Ben Chilwell's low cross before sweeping home.

Takumi Minamino kicked the day off with a bang, as he lined up alongside ex-Saint Maya Yoshida for Japan, who beat South Korea 3-0 in a friendly - recording their first victory over their rivals since 2013.

Young Alex Jankewitz was in action for Switzerland's Under-21 side, who beat their English counterparts 1-0 in a fiercely contested game in Koper.

Elsewhere, Jan Bednarek was involved in the full 90 minutes as Poland played out a lively 3-3 draw with Hungary, while Stuart Armstrong played 66 minutes of Scotland's 2-2 meeting with Austria, before being replaced by fellow Saint Ché Adams, who made his international debut.
