Manager Ralph Hasenhüttl praised his side’s desire to reach the Emirates FA Cup semi-finals, after Southampton produced a commanding performance to pick up a 3-0 win at Bournemouth.

Moussa Djenepo’s strike put Saints on their way, before Nathan Redmond gave the visitors a comfortable lead at the halfway stage.

With one foot in the last four, the win was put beyond doubt by standout performer Redmond to tee up a trip to Wembley.

Commenting on the victory, Hasenhüttl said: “It was a good performance. We knew that it was going to be a tough game here, so it was important we had the right mindset against this team.

“We know that they were definitely very focused on this game and we knew it was a big chance for us to achieve something big. For us going to Wembley now, only the semi-final, but it’s the first big step and I think we could feel this from the first minute today that this team really wanted to go there.

“This is the right mindset and then combined with a good game plan where we have worked very hard during the week to get this, which leads to a very, very good win.

“I had a few very clear meetings this week to tell them what I expect from us and this club this weekend, and it looks that everybody was very, very clear with what we had to do today.

“When we are working like we did today and playing like we did today – quick and not always turning back – we are a good side and today we showed we have this quality.”
