Moussa Djenepo declared Southampton will not give up despite falling to defeat at St Mary’s in the Premier League.

It was a disappointing afternoon in SO14 as Southampton fell to another league defeat, this time at the hands of Brighton.

A Ché Adams equaliser wasn’t enough to keep Saints in it, as they now march on to their FA Cup quarter-final at Bournemouth next weekend.

“It’s difficult for the team, for everybody but now get ready for the next game," Djenepo said. "We never give up, head up and we go again.

"Every Premier League game is a tough game, it’s never easy.

"It’s football – sometimes you play very well and lose and sometimes you play very bad and you win. We keep our good mentality to play again.

"Now we try to forget [today] and to prepare, to give our everything for the Cup game – it’ll be good for the team, for everybody."

Despite leaving the field of play early in the week against Manchester City due to injury, Hasenhüttl turned to Djenepo in the second-half at St Mary's and brought him off the bench.

“Against City I had some problem but it’s OK, I will continue to work hard and stay in the picture and try and help the team.”
