Ralph Hasenhüttl has confirmed that leading scorer Danny Ings is likely to be absent for the remainder of this month's fixtures, following his early departure during Saturday's 2-0 success over Sheffield United.

The striker was replaced by Ché Adams in the 13th minute, and will now miss games against Manchester City, Brighton and Hove Albion and AFC Bournemouth, with a return date expected to fall after March's international break.

The manager was however pleased with the contribution of other players in forward positions, including Nathan Tella and Adams, who both had a hand in goals scored at Bramall Lane.

"I think it is a serious one but not too serious," the manager said, when asked about Ings's injury. "I think three weeks it'll be, expect him back after international break."

Speaking about what Tella needs to do to retain his starting berth, Hasenhüttl said: "Play like he played on the weekend, he did exactly what we demanded of him. This is what I expect of him. The stats were unbelievable, especially the high speed runs.

"We must have a look at how fit he is for Wednesday, he invested a lot and he is a young player. We must have a look in general what players are available."

Commenting on the impact of Kyle Walker-Peters and Ibrahima Diallo: "Two players who are very important for our shape. This is a fact. We are a different side then, this is clear. Everyone plays in his best position.

"We have to select very carefully what we do on Wednesday; sure there will be a few changes. But we want to remain competitive."

On Adams, he added: "Maybe again we have the ketchup bottle phenomenon. A long time nothing, but then maybe everything comes at once. So let's see."
