Southampton's B team hit the road as they travel to Blackburn Rovers in Premier League 2 on Monday.

THE MATCH

Blackburn vs Saints B
Premier League 2
Lancashire County FA
Monday 8th March, 12PM GMT

Southampton B staged a vital comeback on Friday with the scores ending 2-2 and the points shared.

Saints fell 2-0 down in the first half at Snows Stadium on Friday against Arsenal but two Will Ferry goals in the second-half saw them draw level.

They now sit one point off of 11th place Leicester City, still having 2 games in hand over The Foxes.

Blackburn have had some time to recover and prepare for this fixture, after an animated game vs Tottenham in their previous Premier League 2 fixture.

Blackburn sit second in the Premier League 2 table and their 1-1 draw with Tottenham ensured the two sides stayed on the same number of points.

Victory on Monday will bring Blackburn within 2 points of Premier League 2 leaders Manchester City.

LAST MEETING

Blackburn had the edge when these two sides met for the reverse fixture in October, with Connor McBride netting for Rovers after just 12 minutes.

There were moments of quality for Saints though, as they dominated much of the second half.

The hosts had a number of promising attacks on goal but ultimately could not break down Blackburn’s defence.

A glorious chance occurred five minutes before the break as Johnson slipped in Obafemi who ran clear of the defense but his effort was tipped onto the post.

Saints will be eager to rectify their mistakes from the last meeting and monopolise on all of their chances in front of goal this time around.

MANAGER’S NOTES

B team manager David Horseman is well aware of what it's going to take to beat a Blackburn Rovers side in impressive form.

“Blackburn have started well and are near the top of the league," the coach confirmed. "They’re a good pressing team with some really good individual players.

We have had really good periods in all the games so far this season but need to be more clinical in both boxes to turn our positive performances into good results.”
