Southampton’s B team will host a fourth successive Snows Stadium fixture on Friday, as they face Arsenal in Premier League 2.

Premier League 2
Snows Stadium
Friday 5th March, 2PM GMT

Despite scoring first, Saints B team fell to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last time out in Premier League 2.

Kazeem Olaigbe’s wonder strike was not enough to stop the visitors from claiming all three points at Snows Stadium.

Saints are 2 points adrift of Leicester who sit 11th, though they do have three games in hand over the Foxes.

Arsenal have lost their last three matches in Premier League 2, conceding 9 goals without scoring.

After a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, there’s no doubt the visitors will be looking to find form again.

With Arsenal just four points ahead of Saints in the table, victory at Snows Stadium would be huge for both sides.

LAST MEETING

Saints kicked off their 2020/21 Premier League 2 campaign in perfect style, with victory over Arsenal the last time these two sides met.

Arsenal’s Ben Cottrell netted after just 11 minutes of play but it was Saints that took home all three points.

Callum Slattery looped in a dangerous cross to Josh Sims who was able to convert at the back post to draw Saints level.

It was Kegs Chauke who completed the comeback for Saints at 64 minutes.

MANAGER’S NOTES

Manager Horseman had his say on the upcoming clash with Arsenal, and is hopeful for the performance Saints can deliver on Friday.

“Another tough one, they’re obviously a really good team," he said following Saints' clash with Manchester United. "We played well against them earlier in the season, we probably caught them by surprise.

"They’ve played different types of teams. Reiss Nelson has played, Balogun’s a top player at our level and above that.

"It’ll be another tough one but I think if we complete like this [vs Mancheter United], and with a little bit of game management [we can do well]."

"The next couple of games will give us those sort of opportunities [to learn] because Arsenal will stretch us again like Man United did.

“We’re not going to fear anybody, we’re going to have a right go at them.”
