Southampton vs Shrewsbury Town

Emirates FA Cup

St Mary’s Stadium

Tuesday 19 January, 8pm GMT

Referee: Graham Scott

Assistant Referees: Peter Kirkup and Steven Meredith

Fourth Official: Darren England

The fixture will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

Saints head into this fixture after a disappointing loss to Leicester City in the Premier League at the weekend.

Saints only reached the fourth round of the competition in 2020, where they were edged out by Tottenham in a fourth-round replay.

Hasenhüttl and his team will be looking for a good run in this year's competition.

Shrewsbury progressed to the third round of this year’s FA cup after victory over Cambridge United and Oxford City.

Shrewsbury also reached the fourth round last season, where they were beaten by Liverpool in a fourth round replay at Anfield.

Both teams will be hoping to build on last year's FA Cup journey and will be eagerly playing for a fourth round home tie against Arsenal.

Saints manager Ralph Hasenhüttl is set to make a number changes to the side that lost to Leicester City at the weekend.

Will Smallbone adds his name to the long-term injury list after sustaining a knee injury against Leicester.

Danny Ings, Jannik Vestergaard, Oriol Romeu, Nathan Redmond, Moussa Djenepo and Mohammed Salisu will also not be available for selection.

With Steve Cotterill recovering from Covid, Aaron Wilbraham is at the helm for Shrewsbury this week.

After a challenging couple of weeks with many players also being struck down with the virus, they have now returned to training and are in good shape with plenty of options for Wilbraham to explore.

“We all know about the FA Cup, how famous it is. For us it's a good chance as always to climb a few rounds.

We have shown this season we are able to win against every team."

"Southampton are a great team and are doing well in the Premier League.

We are obviously expecting a difficult game away from home but it's a chance for us to go there and prove ourselves against top opposition."

Hasenhüttl has previously given high praise to the promising young striker and Tuesday’s FA Cup tie with Shrewsbury could be the perfect opportunity for Nlundulu to showcase his skillset.

Udoh netted the winning goal in Shrewsbury’s second round FA cup tie with Oxford City.

He’s performed well under new boss Steve Cotterill and will be hoping to add to his goal scoring tally this season.
