Saints come into Sunday's cup clash in good form after three consecutive wins either side of the winter break, as the new year began with last week's 4-0 triumph over Portsmouth in front of a club record league attendance at St Mary's Stadium.

Simon Parker's side will be looking to progress further in the FA Cup after a free-scoring start in the third round, when they beat Royston Town 10-0 in a clinical, professional display.

That resounding win set up a remarkable fourth FA Cup meeting with Bristol City in the last five seasons, with a place in the fifth round on the line; the last time Saints advanced to that stage was the 2023/24 campaign when they faced Manchester United.

Bristol City successfully advanced to the third round with a 2-0 win over Portsmouth, thanks to goals from Maria Farrugia and Mari Ward.

Since then, they won and lost once in the league either side of Christmas; a 3-2 defeat at Crystal Palace ended their 2025, before a 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest started their 2026.

The Robins have made a trio of January signings, as Lioness Katie Robinson made a statement return on a permanent deal. Jessie Gale arrived on loan from Arsenal for the remainder of the season, before Hungarian international goalkeeper Lauren Brzykcy from Swedish side Piteå IF.

FA CUP CLASSIC

Saints' last FA Cup victory over Bristol City came back in January 2022, in a dramatic extra time triumph at St Mary's Stadium.

After a heroic late clearance off the line by Milly Mott, the winning goal came in extra time through Ella Morris' calm finish in the area.
