U18 Report: Saints 0-0 Fulham
Southampton Under-18s maintained their unbeaten streak but were held to a goalless draw against Fulham in the Under-18s Premier League.
The hosts had the better of the early chances at Staplewood, as Tarrell Cavell pounced on a loose pass but saw his deflected strike drop just wide of the post.
Dylan Moody was called into action to keep out Aidan Evans, who was played in on the right side of the area and flashed a shot across goal that Saints' shot-stopper pushed away from danger well.
Saints responded and had the closest opportunity of the first half when an effort was cleared off the line by the visiting defence; neat interplay saw Jake Vallance overlap on the right wing and deliver a low cross that was eventually fired goalwards by Harry Gathercole.
Into the second half, Moody denied Evans for a second time as the attacking midfielder advanced into the area and shot low at the goalkeeper's body.
Joe Obeng-John then tried his luck from distance with a well-struck shot that was ultimately a fairly comfortable stop for Moody.
Much like the first half, it was the latter stages of the half that saw Saints threaten to score, with their next big chance coming in the 83rd through a curling Gathercole attempt from the left hand side of the penalty area.
Substitute Junior Kuzanga then went close moments later when he latched onto a loose ball, but flashed his angled drive wide of the far post.
Captain Korban McMullan was kept out with a shot from the edge of the box that appeared destined for the top corner, but for the outstretched hands of Bagot.
Ultimately, a deciding goal for either side never materialised as both sides settled for a point, with Saints' final game of the Under-18s Premier League season still to come at home to Birmingham on Saturday 9th May.
