Sufianu Sillah Dibaga signs new contract

Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that Sufianu Sillah Dibaga has signed his a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2028.

The 19-year-old winger's new deal comes at the end of a milestone month where he made his senior debut for the First Team in the Emirates FA Cup triumph over Leicester City at St Mary's.

Sillah Dibaga came on just after the hour mark and completed the final 30 minutes and extra time on a momentous afternoon for the club's Academy.

Since his arrival at Under-16s level, the Spanish-born attacker has gone from strength to strength in each age group, impressing in the Under-18s before establishing himself as a regular in the Under-21s this season.

Having only signed his first professional contract in the summer, Sufianu said: "It feels amazing, it's been a crazy week making my debut, it was a great experience. I had to enjoy the moment, and it was a good moment to experience with the fans [at the end] as well.

"Now I just want to stay consistent and maintain the good performances [in the Under-21s] and try get more chances with the first team, that comes with training well and showing that I'm ready to get more minutes and perform."

Director of Group Talent Strategy, Andy Goldie, added "This tops off a fantastic week for Sufianu after making his First Team debut, and he has committed his future to the club on terms befitting of the progress he has made this season.

"As with all young players, he still has a lot of work to do to make the next step in adding a sustainable impact in the First Team, however if he continues to apply himself the same way then his trajectory is very exciting."
