We are delighted to announce the signing of striker Cyle Larin on loan from RCD Mallorca, with an option to make the transfer permanent in the summer.

The 30-year-old arrives on the south coast with significant domestic and international experience, with over 250 appearances and 86 goals across spells in America, Turkey, Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands.

With 87 caps and 30 goals for Canada, Larin was part of Les Rouges’ 2022 World Cup campaign and sits second in the country’s all-time top scorers list.

Spending the first half of the season on loan at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, Larin arrives at Saints to bolster Tonda Eckert’s attacking options for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking for the first time as a Saint, Cyle said: “I feel happy to be here, to come and help the club. I’ve had a warm welcome from the staff, and I’m excited to meet the players and the fans.

“The way the club plays I think fits with my style – we create a lot of opportunities and that’s what a striker loves. I know a lot of good strikers have played here before, and I think I can bring a lot to Southampton.”

Group Technical Director Johannes Spors added: “Cyle adds proven pedigree and experience to the group as we head into the most important part of the season.

“He has played at the highest level both domestically and for his country and we are excited to see him in action here at Southampton.”
