Sonnie Davis signs first professional contract
Southampton Football Club is delighted to announce that Sonnie Davis has signed his first professional contract, keeping him at the club until 2025.
The 18-year-old right-back joined the Academy in 2015 at the age of ten, and went on to become a frequent captain by the time he reached the Under-18s.
He was a part of the Under-18s Premier League South title-winning side in the 2021/22 season, before playing every game en route to the FA Youth Cup semi-final last campaign.
After signing his first professional contract, the lifelong Saints fan shared his pride at reaching the next stage of his career.
"It's a dream for any kid that's in an Academy or plays football in general, you don't get too many people that sign [professionally] and get to this point so it's a massive achievement and I'm really proud.
"The love for Southampton has always been there, I'm a Southampton fan and player through and through.
"To even train with the first team is amazing but if anything else could come from that, I hope it does, but I'm just going to carry on working as hard as possible."
