Shea Charles up for February Goal of the Month award
Southampton’s Shea Charles' late heroics against Leicester City has earned him a nomination for the Sky Bet Championship’s February Goal of the Month award.
The midfielder sealed the most incredible comeback in style in Saints' 4-3 win at the King Power Stadium, as his stoppage time strike completed the memorable turnaround after trailing 3-0 at the break.
The occasion naturally took the headlines, but Charles' goal itself was an impressive finish as the midfielder exchanged passes with Ross Stewart just inside the area, before curling hit left-footed shot shot into the far corner and celebrating with an impromptu belly slide in front of the raucous travelling fans.
The rest of the shortlist consists of Abdul Fatawu (Birmingham City vs LEICESTER CITY), Max Bird (BRISTOL CITY vs Wrexham), and Jack Rudoni (West Brom vs COVENTRY CITY), with the voting deadline set at 5pm on Monday 16th March.
Saints will return to St Mary's after four games on the road with a home clash against Norwich on Wednesday 18th March (7.45pm GMT). Tickets start from £25 for Adults and £15 for Juniors. All previously purchased tickets for the original date remain valid.
