Southampton Football Club can confirm its men’s first team will make a maiden trip to Turkey in pre-season, facing Göztepe S.K. in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs owned by Sport Republic.

Saints will head to the continent from Thursday 13th July until Sunday 16th July, facing Göztepe on Saturday 15th July (6pm BST) at the Gürsel Aksel Stadium.

In the club’s first visit to Turkey, Saints will continue to prepare for the 2023/24 campaign by taking on the TFF First League outfit who finished seventh in last season’s table, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Süper Lig via the play-offs.

Affectionately known as Göz Göz, they were crowned Turkish champions in 1950, going on to become the first Turkish team to play in a semi-final of a European competition in 1969. Most recently, Göztepe made history as Sport Republic became the first foreign investors within the Turkish football industry upon acquisition of the club in August 2022.

Full ticket information for fans wishing to attend the match will be released next week and tickets will be sold directly from our website. Broadcast details and information on additional pre-season fixtures this summer will be released in due course.

The below FAQs section will continue to be updated with further information when possible to allow supporters wishing to join us in Turkey enough time to plan their trip to Izmir.
