Southampton Football Club has confirmed the list of released players from its men’s squad following the conclusion of the 2022/23 season.

Two senior players are departing, with Theo Walcott and Mohamed Elyounoussi’s contracts expiring at the end of June.

Academy graduate Walcott, 34, leaves after two spells with the club, having returned to the team in 2020 – almost 15 years on from when he left St Mary’s to join Arsenal as a 16-year-old.

In his most recent period with Southampton, he made 59 appearances and scored five goals, taking his overall total at Saints to 82 appearances and ten goals.

Elyounoussi, who joined in 2018 from Swiss side Basel, leaves after playing 90 games and scoring nine times.

The club would like to thank both Theo and Moi for their commitment and efforts throughout their time as Southampton players, and we wish both of them the very best for their future.

Experienced goalkeeper Willy Caballero is also approaching the end of his current agreement, but talks are ongoing around a potential new deal.

Outside of the current first-team squad, the club has also confirmed the following players on professional contracts will leave this summer:

  • Goran Babic

  • Sam Bellis

  • Matthew Hall

  • Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo

  • Leon Pambou

  • Fedel Ross-Lang

  • Jak Stewart

  • Will Tizzard

  • Jack Turner

  • Caleb Watts

The club would also like to express its thanks to each of those players and wish them well for their future.
