Saints Foundation: Lewis' Story

On the EFDN's Employability Action Day, we celebrate Lewis and his achievements on our Saints Works programme.

Saints Foundation runs Saints Works, a programme for 16 to 25 year olds to build their confidence and break down barriers into employment.

Lewis is a recent graduate of the programme. After a negative experience in education, he joined Saints Works in autumn 2020 to increase his employability skills and prepare himself to tackle the world of work in future.

His confidence grew quickly and he completed two mock interviews to glowing feedback. He also continued to attend Saints Street football when the course completed, acting as a positive role model to his peers.

“I found this course through the job centre, I wasn’t doing much at the time as I had a bad time at school,” said Lewis. “It’s helped me better my anxiety, and I’m really excited to apply for jobs.”

To recognise Lewis' commitment to Saints Works, our team organised for Lewis to be in that number when the Saints briefly returned to play at St Mary's in December 2020.

We are celebrating our commitment to improving employability in young people on the European Football for Development Network's (EFDN) Employability Action Day (Friday 16 April 2021). Our Saints Works programme is tailored to support people of all needs and backgrounds. It's all about finding our participants' passions and turning their potential into excellence.
