Saints draw Cardiff City in Carabao Cup

The two sides met as recently as April, where hosts Cardiff came from behind to defeat Russell Martin's side towards the end of the regular Championship season.

Last season's reverse saw a 2-0 win at St Mary's Stadium in December, Adam Armstrong grabbing a brace.

Saints enter at the second round stage alongside the 12 other Premier League teams not in European competition, as well as Luton and Burnley.

The tie will take place the week commencing 26th August, with fixture confirmation and ticket details to follow in due course.
