Southampton defender Romain Perraud gave his assessment following defeat at home to Brentford in the Premier League.

The visitors took the lead on 32 minutes, Ivan Toney tapping home from close range following a corner routine.

Their lead was doubled in the seventh minute of second half stoppage time, Yoane Wissa breaking through on the counter attack.

"We are disappointed tonight," said the Frenchman. "It was not enough. We controlled the game, we had the ball but [we were] a little bit inoffensive.

"We have a chance because we play against Tottenham this weekend. We need to be focused, move on, try to be better with the ball and just keep going. We have to believe and I’m sure we’ll have a good answer on Saturday.

"I’m someone who stays positive all the time. We need to keep fighting for the club, for the fans, it’s very important and we will do it until the end.

"It’s definitely not finished, we’ll keep going, it’s very close and very tight. We showed a good mindset in the last couple of games, let’s build on this on Saturday.

"Tottenham are a big team, in the top four playing for the Champions League. But we have 11 finals, it doesn’t matter who our opponents are we’ll go fight and give everything."
