With recent results in the Premier League not going their way, Saints will be looking for a positive FA Cup run to boost morale.

Saints haven’t made the quarter-finals since the 2017/18 season where they beat West Bromwich Albion in Round 5.

Saints claimed victory over Shrewsbury Town and Arsenal to reach the fifth round of the competition, while Wolves secured wins over Crystal Palace and Chorley

Wolves reached the semi-finals of the competition back in 2019, where they ultimately lost out 3-2 to Watford after extra time.

Both sides have struggled in recent weeks - with only two points separating them in the Premier League, though Saints do have a game in hand.

There's relief for the defensive ranks as Kyle Walker-Peters is back and available for selection.

Theo Walcott is set to be out longer term and new loan signing Takumi Minamino will be unable to feature as he is cup tied.

Mohammed Salisu has returned to the squad and is also able to feature.

For Wolves, Raul Jiminez, Willy Boly and Daniel Podence will all miss the match through injury.

Full-back Jonny Otto returned to action in Wolves’ draw against Leicester on the weekend and could feature again.

Newcastle (a) 3-2 (Minamino, Ward-Prowse)
Manchester United (a) 9-0
Aston Villa (h) 0-1
Arsenal (h) 1-3 (Armstrong)
Arsenal (h) 1-0 (Gabriel OG) FA Cup

Leicester City (h) 0-0
Arsenal (h) 2-1 (Neves, Moutinho)
Crystal Palace (a) 1-0
Chelsea (a) 0-0
Chorley (a) 0-1 (Ferreira)

Ralph Hasenhüttl: “It’s a long way to come to the final, but we have a chance to do it.

We know it’s a strong opponent, but on a good day I think we have shown in the past we can win against everybody.”

Nuno Espirito Santo: "All the teams during the season have tough moments. But that doesn't take away the quality and talent of Southampton.

We're going to face a very talented squad and manager."

James Ward-Prowse: Despite recent results, James Ward-Prowse has continued to be a pillar for Saints, typified by his set-piece screamer vs Newcastle.

Against a very strong Wolves side, it’s likely he’ll turn to his set-piece prowess in order to break down their defence.

Rúben Neves: From one wondergoal maestro to another, Neves has scored some screamers of his own for Wolves.

With Raul Jiminez continuing his recovery from surgery, Neves could be vital if Wolves are to get on the scoresheet.
