WHAT’S AT STAKE?

After a disappointing defeat to Tottenham last time out in the league, Palace will welcome a break from league action as they host Southampton.

Sitting 12th in the current Premier League standings, it’s been a season of mixed fortunes for Patrick Vieira’s men, who will be aiming to secure their place in the FA Cup’s fourth round.

Saints will be looking to continue their positive cup form when they travel to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

With a break from league action coming as Saints sit at the bottom of the Premier League table, a positive cup run could provide a huge boost for Nathan Jones’s men.

Having reached the quarter final stage of the competition in the previous two seasons, it’s an opportunity for Saints to turn their fortunes on the pitch.

TEAM NEWS

Palace will be without Sam Johnstone, James McArthur and Nathan Ferguson through injury, while Tyrick Mitchell continues to serve a suspension for a straight red card on Boxing Day.

For Saints, Armel Bella-Kotchap picked up a knee injury against Nottingham Forest in midweek and could join Tino Livramento, Juan Larios, Theo Walcott and Alex McCarthy on the sidelines.

THE MANAGERS

Patrick Vieira: To follow.

Nathan Jones: “They’re a different focus. They’re tough games. Away at Palace is a tough cup draw. We have to make sure we’re ready.”

ONES TO WATCH

Odsonne Édouard: Having recently returned from injury, the Frenchman could find himself back in Patrick Vieira's starting XI as he looks to find the net against Southampton for the second time this season.

Roméo Lavia: Securing a place in the starting XI for the first time since his return from injury against Forest in midweek, the 19-year-old will be desperate to show his skill in South London on Saturday.
