The fixture will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

Both sides have had a somewhat rocky start to 2021.

For Southampton, they will be looking to bounce back after a devastating night at Old Trafford in the week.

Saints have already shown their character in this situation before, and there’s no doubt they will be looking to bring their A game to St James’ Park on Saturday.

Newcastle have slipped down to 16th in the Premier League table, already falling to defeat in the league six times in 2021.

However, they recently recorded a shock 2-0 victory over Everton and with striker Callum Wilson in exceptional form, it’s going to be an intense battle up north.

It’s a mixed bag for Saints in terms of team news ahead of their trip to Newcastle.

Stuart Armstrong is unlikely to feature as he’s picked up a muscle issue.

Kyle Walker-Peters and Oriol Romeu are also out but they’re on track to provide options in the near future, with Jannik Vestergaard’s return also on the horizon.

Some positive news for Saints, though, as the recent loan signing of Takumi Minamino bolsters Hasenhüttl's team selection. Jan Bednarek’s red card that he picked up on Tuesday’s visit to Old Trafford has been overturned, meaning he is available.

Newcastle have also run into some misfortune. Steve Bruce will be without Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lscellas and Paul Dummett.

Jamal Lewis has picked up a hamstring injury and Ciaran Clark missed Friday's training after his partner went into labour.
The Magpies also made an important loan signing, with the addition of Joe Willock a welcome boost for Steve Bruce’s men.

Ralph Hasenhüttl: “Now it’s on us to give them [the fans] a lift with playing a better game at the weekend.

We will not win all the next games, we will sometimes go through difficult times and then wonderful times like we’ve had in the past, but this is what football life is about."

Steve Bruce: “When you hear the stories coming out of Southampton it looks as though they’ll be near enough back to full strength."

- Southampton are looking to record only their third Premier League double over Newcastle, previously doing so in 1993/94 and 2014/15.

- Since Southampton returned to the Premier League in 2012/13, the only manager to lose more top-flight games against the Saints than Newcastle boss Steve Bruce (5) is Alan Pardew (6), despite Bruce not facing Southampton in any league season between 2015/16 and 2018/19.

- Newcastle United have lost six Premier League matches in 2021, at least two more than any other club.
