Sam Edozie will likely miss the remainder of January's fixtures after limping off at Norwich on New Year's Day, manager Russell Martin has confirmed.

Edozie was on the end of a forceful challenge from Norwich's Jack Stacey after 27 minutes, forcing the winger to be withdrawn early on in the 1-1 draw.

However, the injury isn't likely to keep the England Under-20 international out for too long with James Bree and Kamaldeen Sulemana looking at a similar return time.

"Sam is out for this month," Martin said. "Hopefully he'll be back at the end of this month or early February ready to play, so it's not a long term one. It was a really terrible challenge and it should've been a red card having watched it back. It would've been if we had VAR, which we spoke about after.

"It's a real shame for Sam as he'd got into his stride and was really playing so well, but he'll come back and be a big boost to us.

"Around a similar time James Bree will come back, Kamaldeen will come back, so we have a big enough and good enough squad to get through until then, and people need to step up and take their chances and opportunities, but I'm looking forward to getting them guys back as well to give us a bit of depth."
