Southampton's Ryan Manning chose to look ahead following his side's 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday night.

All four goals came in a frantic second half, with Ipswich netting the opener through Wes Burns just shy of the hour mark.

Saints turned the game on its head in the minutes following; Manning with his eighth of the season from another set piece before Cyle Larin scored a second with ten to play. But the visitors would have the last say via Jack Clarke on 87 minutes.

"It was a bit like a basketball game, probably a fun game to watch, at times it wasn't the funnest to play in. I think two teams were just going at it and both were trying to win the game. That made the game really open and neither gaffer probably enjoyed watching it at times with how open we were!

"But I think it was disappointing. We got the lead after coming back and getting to 2-1. We just needed to cling on and give us that sniff and that hope for the weekend. Look, the result is the result, a draw is not great for either team. But it makes our path and what we need to do to get promoted clearer now."

"I was practising [my free-kicks] yesterday for a while. Close ones, with my technique, just find it difficult to get them up and down because of the flat trajectory. So I just thought I'd go keeper's side.

"I think Daniel [Peretz], to be fair to him, was lively in his goal so he came up and lined Cyle [Larin] up for me and I got a little deflection. Look you need a bit of luck from time to time, they can't all go top corner! But it was nice to get a goal."
