In Profile: Thierry Small


Arriving from Everton, young starlet Thierry Small provides further defensive options for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side.

Born in Solihull, the left-back started his youth career at West Bromwich Albion before moving to Everton at 11 years old.

Becoming a mainstay in Everton’s Under-23 side during the 2020/21 season, Small scored his first goal for David Unsworth’s side in a 2-1 victory over West Ham.

Small etched his name into the history books on January 24th 2021 as he became Everton’s youngest ever player.

Aged just 16 years and 176 days, Small was substituted on in Everton’s fourth-round FA Cup victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Goodison Park.

The youngster has also featured for his country, earning a maiden call-up to the Three Lions Under-19s squad back in May.

Small provides youth and versatility for Saints, though predominantly a left-back, he can operate as a central defender or left-winger.
