Eckert: Scienza "looking positive"
Southampton Head Coach Tonda Eckert provided an encouraging update on the fitness of Leo Scienza, ahead of the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.
The Brazilian has missed the last three outings ahead of the international break with a strain suffered during the draw at West Brom, but is hoping to make his return on Saturday night.
"Leo is good," said the Head Coach, "he’s put a lot of work in during the international break. He was on the pitch today with boys and it’s looking positive."
Jack Stephens was withdrawn early during the open training session at St Mary's on Monday morning, with Eckert providing an update on his captain. "He’s been getting better day-by-day. There was a little bit of swelling in his ankle but he’s getting better every day."
There was also be a judgement call on those who have been on international duty over the last fortnight. On his internationals Eckert added: "They all look good and ready for the last block of games. Travel has been a bit longer for Cyle [Larin] than the other boys. But they’re all happy to be back in and ready to go."
