Bragg: Winning becoming a routine
After helping Saints move 18 unbeaten and claim a seventh straight win in all competitions with victory over Blackburn, Cam Bragg reflected on the growing feel-good factor.
First half goals from Cyle Larin and Ryan Manning put the hosts in the driving seat, before Cameron Archer marked his return to the starting line-up with a well-taken goal late on to move Tonda Eckert’s side up to fourth in the table.
Meanwhile, down the road at Portsmouth, Ipswich fell to defeat to leave Saints within three points of the top two with the Tractor Boys heading to St Mary’s in two weeks. With automatic promotion a growing topic of conversation, Bragg said:
“I'm sure people have spoken about it. To be honest with you, again, Tonda’s so clear with us. That's potentially going to be in our control, not in our control, but the only thing that's in our control now is we win on Saturday and then we win on Tuesday and then win on Saturday, and I think that's becoming a routine now and a rhythm.
“And the moment we start focusing too much on them dropping points or how they're doing, I think we just need to focus on what we control. We have no control of what happened, but tonight was a pretty favourable result for us, so yeah, I'm happy.
Commenting on the win in SO14, Bragg added: “I think the scoreline reflects the performance pretty well. We probably could have had a few more, but yeah, really professional, confident, and done well. I think we executed the game plan really well and it's a really nice result.
“I think we're really big on starting games quickly. It's been a massive strength of ours this season. We've killed a few teams in the first half, and the plan was similar today to make sure we start really quickly with loads of aggression. Stay on the front foot, play in their half, and we did it.
“Two really good goals in the first half put us in a good position, and then the second half we knew we had a job to do, to be really professional and hopefully keep pushing. So yeah, job done.”
