Southampton B team striker Dom Ballard has been shortlisted for Premier League 2’s January Player of the Month award.
With four goals in three league games, the 17-year-old has made the perfect start to 2023 as his form has helped to fire Saints to the top of the table.
He rounded off dominant home wins against Derby County and Newcastle United with a late goal in each fixture, before ending the month with a brace against Middlesbrough.
The nomination is Ballard's second of the season, after his blistering start to the campaign saw him shortlisted for the August award as well.
Completing the candidates from January are Carlos Borges, Adedire Mebude, and Mikki Van Sas (all Manchester City), Mason Burstow (Chelsea), Joe Hugill (Manchester United), Abu Kamara (Norwich City), and Divin Mubama (West Ham United).
