Saints return to league action after suffering their first defeat in nine games last week in their final Premier League Cup group game.

In a busy week where many B team regulars were in action in the Under 18s' FA Youth Cup victory at Villa Park, Dave Horseman's rotated side were narrowly beaten 3-2 by their Mersyside visitors.

They had already safely secured their progression as group winners, however, and resume their focus on league matters after reaching the top of the table in their last PL2 outing.

A dominant 4-1 win over Newcastle helped Horseman's side leapfrog Leeds United to the summit of the table with the promotion race hotting up in the second half of the season.

Derby remain without a point in the league this season as they sit bottom of the table with 10 straight defeats.

Their last outing was against Saints two weeks ago.

Tickets can be purchased via Derby County's website and are priced as follows:

- Adults - £3.50

- Concessions - £1.50

Horseman's youngsters dominated the Rams at Snows Stadium in both sides' first game of the new year.

Goals from Kamari Doyle, Jimmy Jay Morgan, and Dom Ballard ensured that the three points remained in Hampshire.

Speaking after the Everton fixture, Horseman said:

“We were very fortunate that we'd already won the group so we didn’t have to win [against Everton], but we still got loads out of it and needed to get some minutes into the players that haven’t featured as much this season.

“Everybody bar Olly [Lancashire], who took a bit of a knock to the face, came out of it unscathed which is a real positive to take.

“The defeat hurts but we have to give opportunities to everybody as that’s what we’re here to do, but we’ll also look to get back to winning ways against Derby with our full group back together.”
