Stuart Armstrong will miss Southampton's trip to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday due to concussion protocols.

The Scottish midfielder was replaced in the 82nd minute of Monday's late defeat at Ipswich Town, having been involved in a clash during the second half.

"Stuart Armstrong is concussed so he’ll be out tomorrow," confirmed the manager. "He took a really big whack to the head. We hope to have him back by Tuesday but he needs to pass his tests with the doctors and follow protocol. He’s okay, just very groggy and he’ll be out tomorrow."

James Bree will also be unavailable for the match at Ewood Park due to his sending off on Monday night.

Elsewhere, long term absentees Ross Stewart and Juan Larios will continue to work on their recoveries.
