Archer: We found a way to win
Southampton striker Cameron Archer shared his satisfaction in notching his first two goals for the club in a thrilling victory over Cardiff in the Carabao Cup.
The striker scored a brace in a thrilling encounter that saw eight goals as Saints came out on top 5-3 to advance to the third round.
Archer found the net twice in the second half with a pair of clinical finishes, first putting his side 3-2 ahead before sealing the victory in the last minute of stoppage time.
"It was hectic, but we found a way in the end." he reflected, "we got a few goals, good minutes and hopefully it puts us in good stead for the future."
Archer was handed his first Saints start as Russell Martin made 11 changes for the second round tie, and the striker gave a positive assessment on the group involved.
"It can be difficult, a lot of young players but I think the gaffer's good with that. He tells them all the job that they have to do, and I think we did it well at at times.
"I think we can concentrate on the finer details, including myself as well, but at the end of the day we found a way to win."
"I'm really happy [to score the first goals], to do it in front of the fans as well was really nice but I've got to try and get that start on Saturday as well."
